The
first step to overthrowing an oppressive system is
"epistemic exteriority" or visualizing an
alternative system outside of the existing one. But
neo-liberal capitalism has been remarkably successful
in thwarting such visualization, by proposing "epistemic
closure" as an essential component of development.
