Workers
at a unit of Wistron, angered by a violation of labour
laws, ransacked the unit and the vice-president was
sacked after investigation. Such incidents of worker
exploitation under rogue managers that lead to similar
responses, reflect a tendency of racing to the bottom
in the search for manufacturing growth at the expense
of workers.
